OpenDoors of Asheville helps local at-risk kids by connecting them with education and enrichment opportunities. Volunteers provide mentorship and often transportation to activities like tutoring, sports team games and practices, and music and art lessons. Donors fund scholarships, after school programs, and fees and equipment for extracurricular activities. The OpenDoors team invests in kids who live in poverty so they will learn to invest in themselves and in the end, break the cycle of poverty for themselves and for our community.

Asheville Youth Mission is all about service and empowering young people to use their gifts in the world. Through service projects and the arts, AYM creates community, conversation and connection. AYM brings hundreds of youth to Asheville every summer to work on local service projects through its Mission Immersion Program. Many Voices is AYM’s Youth Drama Company. Each season, the troupe puts on an original production which creatively explores the issues teens face in today’s world.
We believe in what this program offers to local youth and how it holds up Asheville as a community built on service and creativity! (And who needs food donations more than groups that work with teens?)

Asheville City Schools Foundation and the Asheville Grown Business Alliance have teamed up to present the Love Asheville – Go Local Card. It’s a loyalty card that allows you to shift your shopping and support excellent education for all students. With every $15 Go Local Card sold, 1/3 goes to directly to schools and youth-serving programs, 1/3 goes to Asheville City Schools Foundation’s equity fund and grant making programs, and the remaining third supports Asheville’s Buy Local Campaign. That means 100% of the purchase price stays in a our community.
